SCAPE PUBLIC ART SESSION
Dominion Constructors has again been part of the Scape Public Art Season, on display now at Hagley Park in Christchurch.
We are proud to have delivered the most ambitious project of the season, teaming up with notable Auckland artist Gregor Kregar to construct “The Glass Pavillion”. Working tirelessly over a 3 week period, a team of carpenters and apprentices built the high profile structure adjacent to the Avon river in the Christchurch CBD. Gregor’s handmade recycled glass blocks were laid in sequence with multi-coloured neon lights and a recycled timber roof was constructed with ‘Organised Chaos’ creating a striking final result that has achieved significant interest.
As part of the season, Jake Abbot, our Christchurch Design Manager, was asked to help judge the “Re:Activate” competition open to inspiring young artists. Supported by ENI Engineering, the two winning entries ‘Whale of a Time’ and ‘Imprint were constructed and installed by Dominion for their rightly proud young designers.
Dominion enjoys the opportunity to be involved in unique projects such as this, as they challenge our team to think outside the square, use our skills in unconventional ways and we can give something back to our communities. Make sure to check this out before closing on November 18.
